Mick’s 70th birthday party

Yesterday, was our friend Mick’s 70th birthday party.

I’m blest, not only to have great parents, but great 2nd parents, in Mick…

…and Bren (on the left, with her sister Sheila.

What better than an afternoon tea?

[The handbag was made for me by my friend Julia]

As Mick said, quoting Henry James, “Summer afternoon – summer afternoon; to me these have always been the most beautiful words in the English language”.

Fantastic Floyd!

My neighbour Elsie was 100 yesterday.

Elsie was a child minder for many years. Here she is with two of her ‘babies’.

Birthday Boy!

It’s my lovely Boy’s birthday today! Happy birthday Alex and Jenny too!

I was a bit worried that it’d be a bit of a damp squib as we’re away. However, he’s had some lovely texts and our hotel worked out it was his birthday (we think from the card from me in our room)…

…and gave him this wonderful cake (it tastes every bit as good as it looks).

Happy Birthday Lorna!

Happy Birthday – to my good friend Lorna. Here she is with her granddaughter Courtney, working on an artistic project. Would that more people were as honest and honourable as Lorna.

Happy Birthday – Susie Sioux!

It’s SueC’s bithday today – so here is my portrait of her 🙂

Although, I’ve known her for sometime, it’s only been in the last year or so that we’ve become buddies. She’s a fantastic person, who happens to be beautiful and talented to boot (it’s enough to make you spit!).

Thank you for your friendship Sue – it’s really enriched my life, love you lots xxxxx.

Miss T ‘at home’

To celebrate my birthday we had a little ‘at home’ on Saturday. The cakes were made by Dr Bones’ friend Jude. Jude should be made an MBE for services to cake. See yourself, she sells them at Wells Stores in Abingdon.

There was some CHEESE too…with THREE types of the wonderful Dr Karg.

Lorna gave me some amazing flowers from the Eynsham Emporium. As you can see, I didn’t have a vase big enough!

Here is Peter enjoying some DRINK – as you can see he dressed exquisitely so he could be awarded more cake!

Here is David enjoying Dr Bones…I think they look like they’re at different parties. The Boy thinks that Dr Bones is auditioning for a remake of ‘The Lair of the White Worm’.

And here is The Boy with some cake.

A good time was had by all…I’d love to know what Leo was thinking. You can see what he’s been doing!

Happy Birthday Adam!

It’s The Boy’s birthday today!
We are both on holiday and determined to have a day full of fun and frolics – so we are going to go and see a film about Ian Curtis.
I have been a good wife and delivered breakfast in bed, fresh from Sandy’s and didn’t say a word about the fact he was checking his work email in bed!
