Wheat free or not wheat free?

Let’s be honest. I’ve always been a bit sniffy about the whole issue of wheat intolerance. Don’t get me wrong, I know people with very severe food allergies, and a number of coeliacs, it’s not that I don’t believe that food intolerances don’t exist. It’s just that the whole wheat-free, gluten-free, lactose-free, sugar-free circus has become an industry. Search on the Internet, and you’ll find that cutting out wheat can do everything from helping you to lose weight, to relieving the symptoms of MS.

However, of late my digestive problems have been getting worse, to the extent that I worry that one of these mornings I’ll wake up to find that I’ve gassed my dear husband to death!

Now, if I was to do this properly, I’d cut out absolutely everything, and reintroduce foodstuffs one by one. As I live in the real world, I’m just going to cut out wheat for now. I wended my way round the supermarket this afternoon keening at wheat products. I am carbo girl, I adore bread, this is going to take a lot of determination and planning!
